Privacy Policy

VOGT LAW · Effective October 22, 2026

VOGT LAW (“the firm,” “we,” “us”) operates www.svogtlaw.com and provides legal services from the Tampa Bay area in Florida. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, by telephone, by email and by text message, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. By using the website you agree to this policy. If we change it, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top.

Your security

We use physical, electronic and administrative safeguards to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access and alteration. Access is limited to the firm’s lawyers and staff, and to service providers who need it to help us and who are required to keep it confidential. No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, and the firm is not responsible for breaches that are outside its reasonable control.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you rights over your personal information, such as asking us to confirm what we hold, correct it, delete it, or give you a copy. The firm does not sell personal information, does not share it for targeted advertising, and does not use it for profiling. You may contact us at any time to make a request, as described below.

How to make a privacy request

Email shane@svogtlaw.com or write to us at the address at the end of this policy. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable time and as the law requires. Because we are a law firm, we may have to keep some information to meet legal, ethical and recordkeeping duties, and we will tell you if that applies.

Information we collect

Information you give us. Your name, email address, phone number, and anything you tell us in an email, call, text message or message sent through the website. If you become a client, we also collect the information needed to handle your matter and to meet our professional obligations.

Text messaging information. Your mobile number, your consent to receive texts, and the date and content of the messages we exchange.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the website, our website provider records standard server log information, including your IP address, browser type, the website that referred you, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. We use this to keep the website running, to diagnose problems and to see which pages are useful. The website also uses session cookies, which are small files stored in your browser during your visit and cleared when you close it, and other cookies and similar tools that help the site function and measure traffic.

Information from other sources. We may receive contact or background information from public sources or from other parties in connection with a matter.

How we use the information we collect

  • To respond to your questions and requests and to communicate about your legal matter.

  • To provide legal services, schedule appointments, and send reminders, document requests and case-status notices.

  • To operate, maintain, secure and improve the website.

  • To send you firm announcements or articles by email, only if you ask to receive them.

  • To comply with the law, professional rules, court orders and recordkeeping duties, and to protect the firm’s rights.

Text messaging and mobile information

We send text messages only to clients and to people who have contacted us and agreed to receive them. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. Mobile information, including your phone number and your text messaging consent, is not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and is not sold. Texts are sent through Clio, our practice management software, and its messaging providers and the wireless carriers, which handle them only to deliver them for us. Information shared through text messaging opt-in is not shared with any third party for their own use. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP. The text messaging program is described in our Terms and Conditions.

Sharing personal information with third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:

  • With service providers that help us run the firm, such as our website host, email and phone providers, practice management and messaging software, and document and cloud services. They may use the information only to provide services to us and must protect it.

  • In a business transaction, such as a merger, sale or succession of the practice, subject to our duties of confidentiality to clients.

  • When you ask us to, or as described in the legal-purposes section below.

Other websites

The website may link to other websites, such as bar associations, courts and rating services. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please read their policies when you visit them.

Your choices about how we use your information

  • Cookies. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. If you do, parts of the website may not work as intended.

  • Email. If you receive emails from us that you did not request, or you no longer want them, tell us or use any unsubscribe link, and we will stop.

  • Text messages. Reply STOP at any time.

  • Analytics. We use basic website analytics provided by our website host to understand how visitors use the site. You can limit this by blocking cookies in your browser.

Disclosure for legal purposes

We may disclose personal information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, such as in response to a subpoena, court order or request from a regulator, or when needed to enforce our rights, to protect the firm, our clients or others, or to investigate suspected wrongdoing. Information about clients is disclosed only as our professional duties of confidentiality permit.

Children

The website and our services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Confidential information

Please do not send confidential, proprietary or time-sensitive information to us through the website, by email or by text unless the firm has confirmed that it represents you. Sending a message does not create an attorney-client relationship, and information sent before representation begins may not be protected by the attorney-client privilege.

Deletion of your personal information

You may ask us to delete personal information we hold about you by contacting us as described above. We will do so unless we need to keep it for a legal, ethical or recordkeeping reason, including the retention periods that apply to client files.

Assignment

The firm may assign this policy and the information covered by it to a successor to the practice, who will be bound by the same duties of confidentiality and by this policy.
